José Hugo Sanchez at the MIDAC

4 Oct

The artistic season of this 2016 of the MIDAC Museum in Belforte del Chienti, continues with the seventh event of the year: “Nahuales” by José Hugo Sánchez (Mexico). The exhibition, curated by Terra dell’Arte and with the patronage of the Municipality, will be held in former Church of Saint Sebastian, historical center of Belforte del Chienti, from Friday, October 8 to Sunday, November 22.

José Hugo Sánchez, Born in Obregon, Sonora, Mexico in 1962, he lives between Mexico and the United States.

Multidisciplinary artist moves from painting to sculpture, from engraving to performance.

Strongly linked to the theme of the border and to the one of the ancestral roots tied to his land he was formed artistically in Mexico, with masters such as Benjamín Serrano, drawing and painting, and Markus Kurticks, performance and sculpture, and in Brazil at the USPI, University San Paolo.

He has exhibited his artworks all over the world and these are present in many public and private collections.

“[..] The particularity of the coexistence of civilizations, by many wrongly considered dead, typical of Mexico, takes form in his artworks with a hybridization able to transport in a whirlwind of sensations. He calls himself neografico and it’s hard to say that he said something wrong.

New modes of fusion between different techniques but also new and original the creation of figures that, rediscovering ancient archetypes, make clear his originality.”
